As part of a large-scale cooperation promoted by the German Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI), Voltabox also develops the new business division of stationary storage systems on lithium-ion basis.

Requirements & goals


Even previously used battery modules are suitable stationary storage systems for further use according to the "Reuse approach". This helps establish the reuse or recycling of such batteries, because after their initial use they can often still be used economically and functionally for many years, primarily in stationary applications and with slightly reduced efficiency.


Power grids must be actively stabilized because of the high fluctuations of consumption by connected consumers. Intelligent large-scale lithium-ion battery storage with the special feature of transferring and absorbing energy ultra-fast ensures that the comprehensive supply can be guaranteed in all circumstances.

Innovative concepts for stationary storage systems

In cooperation with the German Federal Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, the Bergische Universität Wuppertal, the public transportation service providers Solingen, and TÜV Nord, Voltabox is continuously developing and researching high-performance battery systems and stationary storage systems to make the storage of electrical energy more sustainable and efficient, and to enable the comprehensive use of electric vehicles.
